Laguna Road Curriculum | Oak Grove Curriculum
Childkind Oak Grove and Laguna Preschools share a philosophy and core curriculum. In both
schools we start with a simple educational philosophy: help children build the skills they
will use everyday to explore and interact with the world. We try to pave the way by developing
good communication, problem solving, and social skills. These skills are encouraged daily by
allowing children to express themselves and supporting their play.
A complete description of the common curriculum for our two preschools is here.
At Childkind Oak Grove, we concentrate on the special needs of children in the two years before they enter grade school. We believe the best way for children to develop school readiness is through a rich experience based fundamentally on play. Through the careful selection of materials and group activities, skill development such as letter recognition or basic math concepts are conveyed as part of an overall fabric of child-directed exploration. This approach maximizes the development of the self-esteem children need to reach their full potential.
The Oak Grove program also takes particular care to help develop what has been called 'emotional intelligence.' These are the skills children need to deal effectively with their emotions and to create relationships with others. Often negelected, these skills are critical to a child's ability to feel comfortable in grade school.
The Childkind experience is a partnership between parents, children, and teachers. Each of us
plays an important role in creating an environment where children can develop safely and
healthily. As a vibrant educational community, Childkind offers parents both a safe haven
for their children and a close-knit network of fellow parents and adults.
